Zentangles

I had never heard of a zentangle before and now that I've discovered them - I'm an enthusiastic fan!

They truly are a meditative form of art.  I lose track of time and forget everything except making the patterns.  It's very relaxing.

People make absolutely beautiful and complicated zentangles, just google them and you'll see wonderful examples.

This one I did with a Sharpie on a piece of sketchbook paper.  For some reason it morphed into hair, I didn't have any plan when I started working on it.

Here's another one I did the same night.  This really isn't representative of anything.  It just came out of my mind like a jumble, and I think that's probably about right, lol!

I think I might try one with different colored markers next...

Very interesting Lynn. I have been painting mandalas on paving stones in our yard for many years before realising what I was actually painting. My daughter pointed it out to me. Will have to educate myself on Zentangles now as they look to be a great creative outlet.

Hi Janice! Oh, I think your mandalas sound like a wonderful project! I would love to see yours! Did you use acrylics and then seal them? I am going to have to give that a try!

I use good paint that will cope with any surface, steel, concrete, timber or whatever. I also paint stepping stone paths on any large areas of concrete we have especially if we have to use it constantly to get to garden seating or our koi ponds. I rarely seal them Lynn because I am always changing them. I must say I have slowed down a little now as it is a lot of work. I am due to repaint and freshen them up now and will post some shots to give you an idea.

Janice, wow! That is so great that you change them up and repaint - I never would have thought of that! Yes, I would love to see them! I have been wanting to do that for so long, you have been inspiring! Many thanks!!!
